Being on the highlands, Tomohon nature is tremendously amazing. It becomes home for many endemic floras and faunas. What makes this nature beautiful is firstly because there are two volcanoes on northern side of Tomohon. Hills and valley made up by this volcanoes create picturesque panorama. The color of the plantation that is blueish green made Tomohon nature beautiful. On the other hand, rain pours regularly in and wet the town. It does not only make the town cooler on rainy season, but grows a lot of plants in the forest.
The Nature
Tomohon nature is richly beautiful. Volcanoes, valleys, waterfalls, small creeks, rice fields and changing color lake are the ones make it picturesque. From North to South, visitor can always see the farmland on this small town. Trekking and cross walking the countryside are the best way to enjoy Tomohon Nature. By this, visitor can get better impression of being in Tomohon.
The Flora and Fauna
On the forest and farmlands, the possibility to encounter animals such as birds and reptiles are big. While trekking on the mountain, for example Mt. Mahawu, visitors can see many animals. There are many species of birds and reptiles. The famous pitcher plant is also possible to see here.
Local Activities
Another attraction that can be encounter while trekking is meeting the locals on the garden. Some of them are cultivating the farmland, some of them are harvesting crops, some farmers is harvesting palm sap and some others are making palm sugar and palm wine traditionally. All these local activities are very interesting to be observed.
