Camping Trip in Lihaga Island

When we started this tour package, we weren't too sure how would it look like. We didn't know anybody in Lihaga or Gangga Island who would work together with us. Plus, there was an issue that the island was in the middle of a conflict. Some groups of people were said to claim that tiny island. That uncertainty was worse because we didn't know any boat operator. One and only person who seemed to be reliable turned unreliable to us. And, so we tried our best to find solution over this problem.

Actually, there were so many uncertain things when we started this trip. We knew there was nothing but the island itself. There was not any hotel nor resort or restaurant. So we had to think and response to this need. We had two tents for three to four people in each tents, and only one sleeping bag. The sooner the camping would start, the more we became distress. The problem was we needed one more tent but the tents in the store were sold out. One week I kept returning to these shops and kept the same answer. I also asked my friends whether they had tent or not. I got negative answers. Somehow, I had to find one no matter how. I didn't have any stove nor cooking tools too. But these ones were easy to find.

Tranquil Lihaga Island

Just a couple of days before the camping started, I went around downtown finding the equipments. I found the air-beds in Ace, I took three, bought portable stoves, small tube of gas, frying pans, kettle, wooden spoon and other necessary things for the camping. I finally found a tent for two people in one store. Also, for the fly sheet, I used tarps. Tarps is an excellent idea for protection from rain. One day before the camping, We prepared all the fresh vegetables, herbs and other kinds of food such as rice, pasta, potatoes and sweet potatoes.

Finding the solution, off we went to Lihaga. We decided to use a chartered boat to reach the island. Arriving there, we were welcomed by two friendly man who soon to be our friend. We also met a lady who would help us cooking the food and a dog who became our play mate. There was not any problem during the camping. The weather was nice, all we needed were there, the fresh water although it was not enough but everybody was happy with the arrangement. We couldn't expect more for the fresh water. Some of the tourist didn't even go to the bathroom for only doing the nature call.

For several days, we seemed to live like Flintstones by the beach. We wore less clothes, swimming on the beach and just be happy, taking pictures to preserve the moment as well as lazing on the beach. At night we had some games of tooth picks, glasses arrangements and cards. In the end, the camping trip was an excellent ideas.
